Happy July everyone! What a better way to start off this month than with a recap post. I know, I can barely contain my excitement as well.
This past weekend was what I like to call a family-filled extravaganza! I had family come in to town for the weekend from Colorado on Friday night. Saturday was our annual family picnic where we had around 70 people show up. It was the longest one we ever had, going from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. I got black as night playing frisbee, basketball, football, volleyball and a billion other things outside.
Then Sunday, my mom decided I was going to cook dinner for my family that was in town. It was basically a repeat performance of what I made last Wednesday for my dinner party, but not as good because I was a lot more rushed.
What I really wanted to do was go fishing on Sunday. A handful of friends went out to McKinery, I believe, for some relaxing times at a lake. I was uber jealous the entire day, especially after I got to see all the pictures. They all said they want to go again at least once more this summer, so I really hope I can make it out for that.
Monday Raina and I absolutely had to go up to Milwaukee and finish moving out of our apartment because our lease finished up on the 30th. However, this was kind of a daunting task, so Jacob decided to be super nice and help us out. It seriously saved us soo much time having just one more person there... especially a guy who is stronger than Raina and I combined. :)
We got everything out and the apartment cleaned by 4 p.m., which was our goal! Woot! Of course, we were completely famished so we headed over to Sonic for a late lunch, early dinner. Delicious. I also brought home the desk and tac board from the apartment. My room looks pretty decent now with all this new furniture. Now I just need to clean it....
Yesterday I was woken up at 7:30 a.m. by my sister to go over to their house to watch Luke. Wincy took Ethan to the doctor yesterday because he got some really bad mosquito bites that ended up swelling his left eye shut. Poor guy, it looked even worse in person. The doctor said there have been quite a few cases like that with kids this year and there was nothing they could really do. Ethan looks a lot better today, he can open his eye a little bit, which is good. Hopefully it'll be all gone by tomorrow.
In non-life recapping news, I have three songs I am currently obsessed with. Here they are in no particular order. 1) This cover of Paula Abdul's "Straight Up." 2) Jordin Sparks - Next To You [where the lyrics in my title came from] 3) Jeremy Camp - Surrender
July is looking to be not quite as busy as June, although that is not evident from this coming week. Tonight there is bowling for one friend's birthday. Then I'm going to be heading down to St. Louis to visit another friend for her birthday. We should be home Sunday afternoon to make it back in time for the first day of men's summer league! Woot! There are a lot of new people this year, so it'll be interesting to see how the games turn out.
